A New Year and New Games, Looking Forward to 2026

Hello, everyone, and happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a great holiday season.

Two figures in long coats and wide-brimmed hats draw pistols on a werewolf leaping down from above in a canyon. Behind them, a snake is poised to strike.

2025 has been an exciting year at TBM Games – this was my first full year dedicated exclusively to game design and editing since 2021, and I couldn’t be prouder of what’s come so far. We welcomed a new designer, Hans Qu, into the fold. You can see his work in the Jiangshi and the Rose Moon Druid subclass. TBM Games had its itch.io debut with Operative 5/5, a print-and-play game in which you hide and extract sticky notes from your friends’ homes. And of course, in September, we successfully crowdfunded our first-ever campaign setting, Rust Moon, which is well underway!

Away from the game table, an opportunity arose that’s been a dream of mine for a long while – in June, I found my dream RV. After a whole debacle with the mobile home’s generator and air conditioning, I did get to take it on two shorter trips in 2025, when it wasn’t swelteringly hot inside.

Oh no.

In 2026, I’m going on more adventures when the weather improves and using this as a mobile office to live up to a “Midwest Thoreau” vision of myself as a writer and game designer. I’ve still got some adjustments to make to really call this space my own, and you can expect that I’ll talk about that in more detail in a future article.

You’re going to love what’s in store for 2026 – We’re bringing you more monsters to encounter in the Rust Moon Territory and beyond, ideas and tools for you to build unforgettable tabletop role-playing games, and character options coming soon. One of the first big changes you’ll notice is that these blog updates are moving to a new day of the week, Mondays! This change will help us to deliver more consistent updates, make posts less likely to get buried in your news feeds, and give you a few days before your weekend gaming sessions if the updates inspire something new for you.

We know that it’s becoming hard to keep up to date with everything going on with tabletop role-playing games. Social media deliberately creates barriers to keep you sifting through your feeds for the things you care about, and it’s getting harder and harder to discover high-quality materials for the games you love. If you want to keep up to date with everything at TBM Games, you can subscribe to our mailing list or back us on Patreon to get these updates direct to your email inbox.

A TTRPG is only as great as the friends at the table, and it’s a privilege to have you all at ours. Happy New Year – I can’t wait for you to join us as the adventures continue.
