It’s long overdue, but this weekend’s article finally offers an explicit stat block for one of the Primordials – Zyagi, the Armored Tyrant.

The Armored Tyrant

Zyagi is a fearsome humanoid silhouette composed entirely of layers of solid metal, violently twisted into the shape of armor plating by unfathomably potent magnetic forces.

Lair Actions

On Initiative Count 20 (losing Initiative ties), Zyagi takes a Lair Action to cause one of the following effects; Zyagi can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Errant sparks of static charge leap from the ground into metal equipment. Any creature on the ground holding metal equipment must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity save, taking 10(3d6) Lightning damage and becoming stunned until the start of their next turn on a failed save, or half as much damage on a success.
  • Stormclouds rain mercury from above one creature that Zyagi can see within 120 feet of it. The creature and any creature within 10 feet of it must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw or become Vulnerable to Lightning damage until after Zyagi next takes a Lair Action.
  • A cloud of sharp iron debris swirls around in a 30-foot-radius sphere centered on a point Zyagi can see within 150 feet of it. Each creature who starts their turn in the cloud or enters it takes 20(8d4) Slashing damage. The cloud dissipates after Zyagi next takes a Lair Action.

Cataclysmic Consequences

While on the Prime Material Plane, Zyagi’s Primordial Cataclysm begins. Storm clouds gather and rain mercury across the world. This mercury will pool and form into Mercury Elementals after roughly an hour, who seek out and destroy natural creatures wherever they can. If Zyagi dies, the storms immediately end, and Mercury Elementals evaporate within five minutes. However, at this point, merely removing Zyagi from the Prime Material Plane will not undo the damage it has produced.
