Fighting Styles

Hello, everyone! I apologize for the delay in posting this week’s article – some factors got in the way of scheduling the post. This week’s post contains six new Fighting Styles for martial characters, but they are designed to allow martial characters to either utilize their mental attributes (Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma) or to otherwise reward certain styles of play(moving around in melee, fighting your way up from a prone position, or switching weapons during a fight).

Fighting Styles

If a feature provides you with a Fighting Style, you may choose one of the following options. You cannot take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again.

Chivalry

When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you that is within 5 feet of you, you can use your reaction to give that target temporary hit points equal to your Charisma modifier(at least 1).

Intuition

When a creature moves within 10 feet of you or one of your allies, you may use your reaction to move up to a distance (in feet) of 5 times your Wisdom modifier(at least 5 feet). This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.

Mobility

When you move more than 5 feet on your turn, you gain a +2 bonus to your AC until the end of your next turn.

Pragmatism

When an attack hits you, you can use your reaction to add your Intelligence modifier to your AC(at least 1) until the end of your next turn. You cannot use this Fighting Style feature again until you finish a Short Rest.

Rolling Fighter

You gain advantage on attack rolls you make while prone. If you hit with an attack roll, you may stand up as part of the attack. You cannot benefit from this Fighting Style while wearing heavy armor.

Versatility

You gain a +2 bonus to weapon attack rolls you make if you use a different weapon than your previous weapon attack.
